Plenary Lecture 3 E
Room 1
Dr. Toshiyuki Yoneda, an esteemed investigator in bone metastasis and cancer-induced bone diseases from Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry, will be a keynote speaker at SSBH this year. He is widely known for his contributions to the establishment of the 'Vicious Cycle Hypothesis of Bone Metastasis' and subsequent clinical and experimental evidence supporting the use of anti-resorptives for bone metastasis. His extensive research has resulted in numerous seminal papers that are essential for the next generation of researchers to memorize. Despite retiring from Osaka University, Dr. Yoneda has continued his research activities at Indiana University School of Medicine and in Japan, where he has been focusing on studying pain in bone metastasis. Personally, Dr. Yoneda has been a mentor for me since 2012 when I was invited to give a talk in his group. His keynote speech at SSBH 2023 will provide valuable insights into his latest research findings and the history of bone metastasis research. Dr. Yoneda has a long-standing collaboration with the KSBMR, and as an editor of JBM, he has established strong ties with the bone research community. Attendees can look forward to hearing from a highly respected researcher with a wealth of experience in bone metastasis research.

Symposium 5. KSBMR-KCR Joint Symposium E
Advances in Osteoarthritis Treatment and Beyond

Room 1
Symposium 5 is a symposium jointly prepared by the Korean Society for Bone and Mineral Research and the Korean College of Rheumatology, and consists of the latest research results on osteoarthritis treatment. Professor Seungwoo Han from the Department of Internal Medicine, Kyungpook National University, will introduce the role of oxidative stress and metabolic disturbances on the development of osteoarthritis. Professor Ji Hyeon Ju from the Department of Internal Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea, will introduce the latest trends in cartilage regeneration using stem cell therapeutics for osteoarthritis. Lastly, Professor Martin Englund of Lund University in Sweden will share the latest research findings on subchondral bone remodeling, which plays an important role in the development of osteoarthritis, and osteoarthritis treatments targeting it.
We hope that this session will provide an opportunity to deeply understand the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis and learn about osteoarthritis treatment strategies that will be applied clinically in the future.
